Bowl of Fuck

When I brought home Owen from daycare he decided he was going to run and jump in the baby wading pool.  With his shoes on.  They are soaked all the way through.

In addition, apparently Gabby pooped on her shoes at daycare and in turn, daycare shoved them into a bag and sent them home instead of cleaning them with a baby wipe.

So, its crocs tomorrow.

For both of them.

I’m exhausted

This week has been super busy for me.  I’ve been trying to keep in touch with everyone, but I’ve been crashing out around 9pm each night from sheer exhaustion, and its only Wednesday.

Today I went back and forth between Plymouth and Dallas 3 times.  My car was 3 of the little lines before E this morning.  I put 10 gallons of gas in (around 40 bucks).  It took me up to the big line before F (but not F).  I dropped off the kids came to work, then went back to Dallas to pick up Owen around 1 and brought him back down to Kingston for his appointment at 2.  I then took him back to Dallas after the appointment.  Then I came back to work in Larksville.  My car is now 1/2 Full or 1/2 Empty (whatever your cup of tea is).  Booo.  And now I’m going to have to go back up there at 5 again to pick both of them up.  I will be back on that line next to E again by tomorrow morning, I can assure you.

As I was saying, Owen was back at the urologist earlier.  His hydrocele/hydroceles (there may be more than one going on, OH JOY!) have not gotten any better or diminished at all since last visit.  When was that?  March?  So anyway, surgery is pretty much a guarantee at this point.  I just am not sure when.  Owen was scheduled for an ultrasound of his man parts tomorrow morning at 7:30.  The doctor wants to see exactly what’s going on in there before jumping into surgery.  He should have the results of that by Friday afternoon or Monday afternoon at the latest and then we are going from there.  I’ll keep you guys posted.  Happy Second Birthday Owen…Now have some surgery!  In addition to all of that fun stuff, Owen has a well visit at his pediatrician next week.  We love doctors!  Love them!

Here we are in the examination room causing trouble:

If that isn’t enough nonsense to keep my mind occupied, we also are having a birthday party for Owen on Saturday afternoon, so I have 3 days to get my house in order before my family and the in-laws arrive.

I’ve also been working on wedding invitations for my future sis-in-law.  Those are near completion (they are pretty elaborate and need to be put together) and my Mother-in-Law, future sis-in-law and others are showing up at my house tomorrow night to assemble these bad boys.

Are we having fun yet?

In addition to my company coming tomorrow night, and Owen’s early ass dr. appt., it is also Hanover Township Recycling day.  That means I’ll be carting two ant-infested cans full of recycling down to my old house and picking the cans up after work.  Plus I still have to get or make cupcakes before Friday so I can take them to Owen’s daycare.  And I have to make potato salad, and dip, and marinara sauce for the meatballs.

Ok.  Its official.  We are now having fun.

I’m also waiting for a certain call from a certain place.  More on that when I get around to finishing my password protected blog entry that Wordpress ate on me yesterday.

Thank you wordpress!

For not saving my Draft even though you said you did.  And then Internet Explorer just had to fucking crash, right?  I hate you, Windows Vista.

I am going to punch a monitor right off of my desk.

Password protected blog entry is going to have to wait until later this afternoon.

Suck of July

July is starting to suck worse than May, but yet still not as bad as December in terms of the amount of money I have to spend on gifts for other people. As you know by reading this previous post, in the Month of May I have to buy a lot of presents for people.

This is my predicament right now.  Buying gifts.  Buying more gifts.

I only started my job 3 weeks ago today.  Its a little difficult to get back on my feet after being out of work for so long, (9 weeks by my count), I’d love to wait until I feel like I’m on more stable financial footing before spending a ton of cash on buying gifts for people.  But in the real world, we all know that can’t happen.

Let’s see.  July.  July 4th was our family cookout, which was a lot of money in food and beverages.  Then July 16th was my Mom’s birthday, I still haven’t bought her anything, half of the reason being I don’t have tons of cash, but the other reason being I don’t know what to get for her.  The 19th was my parents wedding anniversary, which I didn’t get them anything for yet.  The 19th was also CJ’s wedding.  I should either buy something off of the registry or send cash, but I just don’t have it right now because. . . . The 20th was my future sis-in-law’s bridal shower which I had to buy a gift for.  Then this past weekend I had to buy a gift for another Shower I went to for one of Rich’s co-worker’s wife-to-be.  August 1st is Owen’s birthday, so I had to go and buy presents for him.  Plus I have to get a cake, balloons, and food for the small family party we are having for him on Sunday.  Oh and cupcakes for daycare.  I’m not making gift bags

I just feel like writing a sign on my back that says "PEOPLE, I AM NOT MADE OF MONEY".  It’s going to get worse before it gets better, because the two bridal shower’s we were at, we are going to the wedding as well, which = $$$$$$$$$

Blah.  Just.  Blah.

Quote of the Day

From The Pocono Record Forums:

"The Poconos used to be a get-a-way.  Now they are just a ghetto-way."  (in response to the recent riot that occured at the Pocono Mountain Carnival)

Excellent, *golf clap*

Batting 1000

So this is how my morning has gone so far:

  • I forgot to bring in my lunch.
  • I forgot to bring in extra diapers for Gabby for daycare.  She currently has none.  Luckily her and Owen wear the same size so they are going to steal a few from his stash.  (Until I can bring in more tomorrow)
  • I forgot to get a coffee on the way in.  ZzzzzzzzzzZzzzzzzzzzZ
  • I forgot to take out something to make for dinner later which I just realized.  Crap.

Its only 10am, don’t worry I’m sure there will be more crap I forget.

Rain Rain, go away

I feel like its been raining for 40 days and 40 nights, but in actuality, its only been raining since 4am.  I know this because I was sleeping peacefully when all of the sudden *CRACKBANG* a huge lightning bolt sounded as if it hit something about 30 feet from where I was sleeping.  It scared the bejesus out of me and woke me up.  I was wide awake and then went to the bathroom came out and turned on the weather channel.  There was a really bad storm that was moving through.  Then the next thing I heard was the wind.  It was howling like as if we had a hurricane going on outside.  Crazy.

I ended up going back to sleep after that for a little bit.  Then my alarm went off at 6:15; then 6:25, then 6:35.  I hit the snooze probably about 10 times before 7am.  I finally got up and got ready.  I had to go outside to take out the garbage (because surprise!  Rich didn’t do it.) and there were huge branches that had fallen down from the bad wind.

This is the second time we’ve had extensive tree damage over the last week.  On Friday night there was a bad storm that blew through Sweet Valley, you should have seen how many branches and sticks and leaves I picked up after that.  I am surprised that we have any trees left.  I was going to take a picture of the pile, but we ended up burning everything in the firepit Saturday night.

I don’t know where I’m going with this story really.  I didn’t get enough sleep and I’m grouchy.  Its supposed to rain all day today, tonight, tomorrow then finally clear up sometime for Friday.  What a crappy way to end the week.

Oh, and the weatherman are predicting like 4-5 inches of rain out of all of this.  So now we are under a flash flood/flood watch.

From The Times Leader:

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued an

* urban and small stream flood advisory for…
Luzerne County in northeast Pennsylvania…
Lackawanna County in northeast Pennsylvania…

areas and low lying spots.

Be prepared to take action if the flooding threat increases… or a
warning is issued.

… Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday evening…

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of New York and northeast Pennsylvania… including
the following counties… in New York… Delaware… Otsego and
Sullivan. In northeast Pennsylvania… Lackawanna… Luzerne…
northern Wayne… Pike and southern Wayne.

* Through Thursday evening

Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage heading into
early this afternoon. These showers and storms… some of which
will contain locally heavy rain… will continue this
afternoon and evening… before gradually pulling east of the area
late tonight.

Total rainfall of 3 to 4 inches is possible over the western
Catskills of central New York… and over the Pocono Mountain and
Wyoming Valley regions of northeast Pennsylvania. Isolated higher
amounts are possible in persistent thunderstorm activity.

The greatest concerns with the upcoming rainfall will be along the
small streams… near areas of steep terrain… and in urbanized
areas where flooding is most likely.

While significant rises on main-Stem rivers are expected… these
main-Stem river points are currently expected to remain below
flood stage.

Please stay tuned to later statements regarding the upcoming
rainfall and potential flooding.

A Flood Watch means there is the potential for flooding on small
streams… creeks… poor drainage… urban and low-lying areas
based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts
and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living… working
or driving in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take
action should flooding develop.

>>>>Which leads me to this question?  Because I love asking questions today.  How do I get to Dallas (Sweet Valley) from Wilkes-Barre if there is major flooding again like there was in 2006?  If I remember correctly, the Cross Valley was closed because Toby’s Creek overflowed, and the "back way" Washington Ave-Huntsville Rd was closed because they were afraid the dam was going to burst and it was overflowing onto the roadway.  Hell they even closed all the bridges over the Suquehanna.  That leaves Rte 11/29, but doesn’t that flood too?

I am screwed the next time we have major flooding.  I guess I’ll have to sleep in my car.  With the ants.

(notice how I didn’t say "If we have major flooding" i said "when" because you know damn well its going to happen again)

We are moving up in the world

Wilkes-Barre’s Ruth’s Chris steakhouse just opened last week.  It’s up by Mohegan Sun.  I’m not sure if its connected to the new casino or is a seperate building.  I haven’t been there yet.  What puzzles me is….can people around here afford to go to this restaurant?  If you’ve never been to a Ruth’s Chris steakhouse, I’ll fill you in.  ITS EXPENSIVE.  Don’t get me wrong, the food is excellent, probably one of the best meals you’ll ever have (besides Fogo De Chao, but that’s another story).  I don’t think many people in this area can afford a 100 dollar dinner.  That would probably be the lowest cost of a bill for food and drinks, btw.  The cost only goes up from there depending on what is ordered.  I guess this is why Ruth’s Chris aligned itself with the Casino.  Once you hit it big on the slot machines you can go next door and buy a fancy schmancy dinner.  I am not kidding when I say the food is expensive.  At least for this area anyway.

Do we really need anymore restaraunts?  Yes.  Yes.  For the love of god yes.  That’s not my answer, that’s the franchise/chain answers.  I personally feel we don’t need anymore food places.  Like everyone in Wilkes-Barre is going to weigh hundreds of thousands of pounds in a years time.

Highland Park Blvd/Mundy Street/Kidder Street has become a who’s who of chain restaraunts.

Lets see if I can remember them all, shall we?

There’s a:  Denny’s, Wendy’s (2), Long John Silvers, McDonalds, Burger King, Dough Company, Pizza Hut, Lonestar Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday’s just closed so that doesn’t count, TGI Fridays, Olive Garden, Smokey Bones, Bennigans, Logan’s, Old Country Buffet, a Chinese Buffet, Chicago Uno Grille (that may have closed), Bob Evans (closing), Applebee’s, Grotto Pizza, Chili’s, Wegman’s Market Cafe, The Mall Food Court, Cracker Barrel, Ground Round, KFC, La Tolteca, Arena Bar, Friendlies, Red Lobster, we had a "Boston’s" but that closed and a Portofino is opening up soon in its place, Outback Steakhouse, Red Robin, Panera Bread, Quizno’s, and Starbucks (*phew* I think that’s all of them, although I keep coming back as I remember more)

These are all within a 5 mile or less radius.  Seriously.

We. don’t. need. any. more.  I will however go to Ruth’s Chris, because I enjoy it there and we can afford it (once in a while anyway).

My next question is this:  How long until we have our own Ikea?  Hey!  Ikea, are you listening????  Pay attention.  We NEED you.

UPDATE:  Maybe Bennigan’s is going to close as well.  Another one bites the dust.
