My ex-boyfriend, but good friend CJ Beers is coordinating/building "The World’s Largest Lasagna" event at the Spaghetti Warehouse in Pittsburgh, PA on May 11th, 2008.  It is my understanding that it will be at the finish line for the Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure"

It sounds pretty cool, and when CJ gets involved in anything…its all out!

I mean, just look at this picture:

FIERCE!  Yeah, I had to pull out THE picture for this one.

Massive Blog Maintenance

In the last few days, I’ve done so much maintenance blog its sickening.

  • I did the CNAME record thing.  blog.mhryvnak.net = mhryvnak.net/blog
  • I installed a Mobile Phone Plugin and also the Poll Plugin.
  • I installed Google Webmaster Tools on this blog and agnesinnepa.org.  I also installed Google Analytics here and on agnesinnepa.org.
  • I updated this blog and agnesinnepa.org to Wordpress 2.5.1

Now I have to get all of the updates to all of my plugins and I should be good to go.  By the way, if you decide to install the new Wordpress 2.5.1 the backend is TOTALLY different from the last update.  Its like learning the Wordpress platform all over again.  I’d take screen shots, but I’m too tired to deal with that tonight.  I would almost revert back to the previous installation if it wasn’t for the numerous security updates included.  This is definately going to take some getting used to.

Now with Screenshots!

Circle one: yes/no

Rich and I can’t seem to agree on one thing:  Does Owen need a haircut?

I say YES YES YES.  Rich says NO NO NO.

What do you think?  This is a picture of Owen after he woke up this morning:  circa 7am.  I mean, just look at that curly afro he has going on.  Its a mess.  You can’t comb it or wet it down either because once it dries it ends up looking exactly like this.

So here’s your chance to vote.  I just installed a new Word Press polling plugin located on the right hand side above my calendar.  Cast your vote now!  You’ll be happy to know your opinion won’t mean much (nor will Rich’s) as I already have an appointment setup for him to get his hair cut tomorrow morning at 9:30am.  I will be sure to post an "after" picture when we get back from the appointment!  I’m just excited that I got the polling thing working, so help me test it out!

April Primary Wrap-up

The other day in my post entitled "T Minus 2 Days and Counting" I was questioning the amount of Political Related visits Hillary and Barrack made to NEPA. As I had guessed, I thought that Hillary and the Clintons made more political stops in NEPA then Barrack did, and according to the below article published in Yesterday’s Wilkes-barre Citizens Voice, I was indeed correct.

Monday, March 10: Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton speaks at Scranton High School during her first campaign appearance in the area. Before the rally, she stops for pizza at Revello’s Cafe in Old Forge.

Tuesday, March 11: Chelsea Clinton helps open her mother’s campaign headquarters at the Ritz Theatre Building in Scranton.

Wednesday, March 12: Chelsea Clinton visits Wilkes University to campaign for her mother, answering questions from the audience about Sen. Clinton’s campaign and plans if elected.

Saturday, March 15: Clinton marches in Scrantonís St. Patrickís Day parade.

Monday, March 17: Sen. Barack Obama makes his first area campaign stop on St. Patrickís Day, meeting with the Society of Irish Women during its annual dinner at the Radisson Hotel in Scranton and participating in a roundtable discussion, sponsored by MTV, at Whistles Pub & Eatery.

Wednesday, March 19: President Bill Clinton speaks at Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre.

Friday, March 28: Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey Jr. endorses Obama.

Tuesday, April 1: Hillary Clinton speaks to more than 3,000 people at a "Solutions for the Pennsylvania Economy" event at Kingís College in Wilkes-Barre.

Tuesday, April 1: Barack Obama makes his first stop in Wilkes-Barre, speaking for 68 minutes at the Marts Center at Wilkes University.

Wednesday, April 2: President Clinton visits with several hundred supporters at a campaign party at Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty’s home. The event raises $250,000 for Hillary Clintonís campaign.

Thursday, April 3: Hugh Rodham, Hillary Clinton’s brother, tells about 40 farmers in Meshoppen that he heard their concerns about dairy pricing and would take their plight to his sister if she is elected.

Saturday, April 19: President Clinton speaks at a "Solutions for America" rally at Wilkes University’s Marts Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Sunday, April 20: Obama speaks to a crowd of about 2,000 people at Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton.

Monday, April 21: Hillary Clinton speaks to about 1,000 people at the Scranton Cultural Center for the final time before the primary, emphasizing her local ties and why she would be a better president.

Final Toll of NEPA Appearances
Clintons: 10
Obama: 4

**I think there are some appearances missing from this list for some reason, so I’m not sure of the accuracy….Like for example, Obama’s appearance at the Glider Diner in Scranton is absent from the list. If you want to check out more information about that appearance, check out John Webster’s blog.

Ok, now enough with the election.  Please take down the signs and stop talking about it.  I don’t want to hear about it again until its time for the Democratic nominations.

Quickie update

Just wanted to say that we decided to go to Ruby Tuesday’s with the kids for dinner.  Owen totally puked all over the floor as we were waiting to be seated.  I told you there was going to be a disaster.

Way to go kiddos, you never cease to find a new and creative way to cause a scene in public.

Tired, sleep now.

Recharged

I finally have a camera with working batteries.  I gave up on uploading pictures last night after I realized how dead the battery was in the camera.  After I woke up this morning I went over and tried to turn on the camera.  It turned on for approximately 1 nano second and then powered off.  WTF???  I tried to turn it on again and it was DEAD.  I’ve seen corpses with more life in them then the camera had at 7am this morning.  It charged all night.  ALL F-ING NIGHT.  What the hell???  Rich then told me that the camera doesn’t like when you hook the power cable to it directly.  It likes it better if you put it on the dock and then hook the power cable to it.  Does it really matter?  Apparently so.  The damn thing is lucky I’m charging it at all.  The next step is EBAY, you hear me….E.  BAY.

In case you are wondering, the answer is yes.  I do frequently yell at inanimate objects around the house.

Anyway, here’s a link to some pictures of the stuff I bought at various garage sales last weekend.

I took Owen to the urologist appointment earlier.  The doctor was shocked at the size of the hydrocele.  In fact, when I opened Owen’s diaper, his exact words were.  "Wow.  Ok, that IS big."  The doctor seemed a little nervous about doing surgery on Owen at this point because of the asthma thing, and the fact that he’s under two.  I guess the anesthesia was what he was concerned about, not the actual procedure itself.  I explained to him Owen already had anesthesia once for the Ear Tube procedure, and responded well to it.  Responded "well" meaning, there were no side effects or complications.  When he woke from the procedure he was completely out of it and was really disoriented and was screaming.  The ENT assured me this is a normal reaction for kids to have, so I told the urologist I was not concerned about the anesthesia.  He still wanted to wait until Owen weighed a little more and was a bit older, so we set up a follow up appointment for July 30th.  He agreed with me about the fact that the hydrocele is not going to go away by itself though.  Surgery definitely will be needed.  So that’s where that stands.

Well anyway, that’s all I have for now, I have to get the kids ready because we are going to attempt to go out to eat.  I smell a disaster waiting to happen.

Breaking News

I just got two breaking news email alerts from CNN.com and PoconoRecord.com (hello?  earth to TL, CV and WNEP???  Bueller?) that Hillary has won the Pennsylvania primary, but now the question is by how much of a margin?  If its less than 10%  It may very well be the end of the road for Hillary.

BTW, I just visited CNN.com and they have a county map of PA.  It turns out in my crappy county of Luzerne 76% of voters voted for Hillary and 24% voted for Barack.  With 85% of the precincts reporting.  Its amazing that all of the sudden NEPA matters in the presidential race.  I love live results.

According to the TL, Meuserbot appears to be winning the 10 CD House Seat:

U.S. House – District 10 – GOP Primary
134 of 531 Precincts Reporting – 25%
Name Party Votes Vote %
Meuser, Dan GOP 6,609 53%
Hackett, Chris GOP 5,978 47%

25% is still to early to call.

I before E except after C

I went to the polling place in the Lee Park Towers with Gabby and Owen in tow.  I parked the car in front of the house and we took a walk down to the Towers.  Btw, the Lee Park Towers is an older care home.  I frequently call it the "High Rise" because I’m from NEPA, land of the coalspeak

On the way down to the Towers a guy gets out of his car.  "Um?  Where do I vote, in the Firehouse or the Lee Park Towers?" he asks me.  Do I look like I work for the Election Bureau?  Look on your fucking Voter Registration card, jackass.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t say that out loud because of Gabby and Owen being there, but instead I told him of how certain parts of Lee Park voted at one place, and the rest voted at the other.  I don’t know the specifics as to why its setup like this.  I know the division line is down Lee Park Ave, since I was on the even side I voted at the Towers…the odd side votes at the Firehouse.  Its confusing….I know, (considering ITS WRITTEN RIGHT ON THE TOP OF YOUR VOTER CARD)  Rocket science people, rocket science.

I get to the voting place to check in.  You have to sign your name on the paper and then go over to the voting machine.  The women that work at the check-in area obviously live in the High Rise and are approximately 150 years old.  She asked me for my last name, I say "Davies".

"DAVIS?" she goes.

Me:  "No, DAVIES.  IES.  D-A-V-I-E-S.  Not Davis."

She starts looking through the book and surprise!  I’m not in there (or so she says).  I proceed to have her check under my maiden name, even though I know damn well that I already updated the last name on my registration.  No luck, although there was a person with the name of Hruckno…that was kind of comical to me.   In the meantime, I dug out my voter registration card, except the only one I can find is the one with my Libertarian registration.  OH!  She goes, "DAVIES", I was looking under Davis.

*headdesk*

Finally I was able to get to the booth, cast my vote and walked back to the house.  I was going to pack up some misc stuff from the side porch to take back with me but the stuff I was going to take was missing.  I panicked, thinking that someone stole it, but it turns out that Rich was there earlier in the day and took it with him.  This is the second time he’s freaked me out about moving something and not telling me.  I went to the house about a month ago and the HEAVY park bench from the front porch was missing.  He some how managed to move it to the back porch, but I freaked and thought it was stolen.  You never know in our neighborhood…..

I was just about to take some pictures to put up to Flickr of my Garage Salin’ this past weekend, but it turns out I still can’t find the charge cable for the new digital camera, and then I found the old digital camera and got psyched only to find out the battery was dead and now that has to charge.  Luckily I was able to find the cable for that one.  Its charging, and hopefully I’ll be able to upload some pics before the night is over.  Provided my laptop battery doesn’t die.  You know my luck with batteries.

BTW, I voted for Hillary.  I hope that doesn’t make me a sellout.
