So much to do today….

God, I have so much to do today, but I can’t get motivated.  Updates in bold posted at 12:00pm.

  1. I have to pick up my wedding rings at Steve Hydock, they finally are done being resized.  Cost:  $70 dollars.  I can’t believe my ring size grew by 2 sizes after having Owen.  Note to any future mothers out there:  please take off your wedding rings after you find out you are pregnant.  Getting them cut off and resized is costly.  Steve Hydock doesn’t open until 10am, so I have to wait a little bit before I can go there.  (done)
  2. I have to run to Party Shitty (City) to get some balloons, decorations, and plates for Gabby’s 3rd Bday tomorrow.  I am going back and forth what kind of plates and balloons to get.  She likes Little Einsteins, Disney Princesses, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Spongebob Squarepants.  It will be one of those.  They just opened — 9:30am.  (done, but they didn’t have little einstein stuff, so I settled for Spongebob)
  3. Then I have to go to Nanticoke to Sanitary Bakery to pick up the 2 birthday cakes I got.  We are taking one up to Rich’s parents tomorrow night, and the other one is for when my family comes down on Sunday afternoon.  Except, they might not come down on Sunday now because its supposed to snow/sleet/freezing rain Sat Night into Sunday.  So now I’m stuck with an additional birthday cake that we may or may not use.  [Side Note:  Why is there always some sort of weather disaster on Gabby's Birthday?  Last year it was the Tornado in Mountain Top, and this year its this winter sloppy mess.  WTF]  I have to pick that up by noon.  (Rich is picking that up on his way home from work – he’s coming home early!)
  4. Then I have to go directly from there back to get Gabby at Daycare around 12:30 or 1.  (soon)

There’s one problem.  One major kink in my plans.  The stupid MacBook is arriving today.  I mean, don’t get me wrong.  I am totally psyched its going to be here today, its just…why couldn’t it be arriving tomorrow like it said it was going to on FedEx.  Or yesterday.  Tomorrow or Yesterday would have been more convenient for my schedule.  Now I have to do all of this crap AFTER it gets here.  I have been taking Gabby to daycare Mon-Wed-Fri from 8am to noon-ish so I can get errands and stuff out of the way – so I only have 4 hours to get this all done.  I hate feeling rushed, and its going to be very difficult to go to a jewelry store and a party store with 2 kids.  It will be hard enough with 1.   (still not here as of noon, btw)

stress, Stress, STRESS

Will I ever be happy?

I have been screwing with my theme, layout, widgets and plugins within wordpress since about 12am last night.  I think I have a theme I finally like, and the sidebar is sorta setup the way I like.   So I am happy with it for the moment.  I’m sorry if you came to the site in the middle of the redesigning last night/this morning.  I downloaded and tried out about 50 or so different themes before I found this one.

I was starting to get annoyed, because the themes were cutting off the pictures I was posting, or they were running into the sidebar.  I think this was because they were fixed width themes.  You know me….I need a lot of space to post pictures and just blather on and on and on about nothing in particular.

So, all that having been said….

What do you think of this setup/layout?  Does it look alright?

Hmmmm?

(I’m using that as my title because it is how Gabby answers me when I ask her any question.)

What happened to Jared the Subway Guy?

I noticed that Peter Griffin from The Family Guy is now doing the Subway commercials.  What gives?  I thought Subway was all about “eating fresh” and losing weight.  Now they have fat-ass Peter Griffin as the spokesperson and Jared who lost all that weight only eating Subway is no where to be found.

Did subway get sick of the same marketing techniques?  Did Jared put back on all that weight?  What gives?

This is going to require further research online….

The dog piss, that turned out not to be dog piss

Yesterday morning, Rich walks down the stairs after his shower into the kitchen and steps in what he through was a big puddle of Trumpy piss.  He starts freaking out and cursing and reaching for cleaning supplies.  I had just woke up out of a dead sleep and didn’t think anything of it and started to help him clean up.  I never really got a good look at the puddle to see how big it was.  After the mess was cleaned up, I then went downstairs to grab some clothes for Gabby and Owen to get them dressed and Rich is standing in front of the drier with a puzzled look eyeing the clothes folded on the top of it.  Apparently they were wet and he couldn’t figure out why they were wet, and where the liquid came from.  It didn’t take me long to put 2 and 2 together and trace the source of the water.  There is a hole that was drilled into the kitchen floor to run phone cord/tv cable/electrical wire through.  Where the dog *peed* the water seeped through the hole, and dropped down through the ceiling and dripped into a cupboard, and then down on top of the clean clothes on top of the dryer, etc, etc etc, big fucking mess.

So from 8:30 am until about 2pm, I was furiously cleaning the cupboard out downstairs, rewashing all of the clothes that got wet, throwing out a bunch of ruined crap, mopping the floor.  Rich gets home and looks at our fridge (which is a side by side freezer-fridge with ice crusher).  The fucking ice crusher broke AGAIN.  Leaked all over the kitchen AGAIN.  It wasn’t the dog that peed.  It was the freezer that peed.  I absolutely cannot believe I wasted that much time cleaning yesterday only to find out the liquid was water.  I am so pissed.  I’m actually less pissed than I was yesterday, but still pissed.

I have a killer headache right now, and I hope what I just wrote makes sense.  My head is throbbing just trying to re-read it.  I was watching Charlie Brown Christmas on ABC then all of the sudden Dancing with the Stars came on.  I wish I knew where the damn remote was, or had the strength to get off the couch and find it at this moment.  This show blows….real bad.  Is it possible for a TV show to make a headache worse?

I ordered the MacBook yesterday.  The FedEx tracking thing says it should be here by Dec 1 (Gabby’s 3rd Bday).  I’m getting a present on Gabby’s bday!  The box to ship the craptop back to dell arrived today from DHL too.  So I’m going to have to move everything over to the new mac before I ship this one back to dell.  That shouldn’t be as bad as when I formatted last time.  I backed a large amount of crap up to my server space on Rich’s Mac — it took days.  I’m excited to finally resync my Ipod up to something that has all of my mp3s in one spot….that will be my new macbook!

Alright I’m getting up to find the remote now.  I’ve taken about as much of this shitty show as I can handle.

Suck it Dell, Windows Vista

For whatever reason (pick one:  insanity, drunkeness, mild retardation, whatever) I decided to format my laptop sometime in the summer months and make a go of it with Windows Vista.  I previously was running Windows XP Home edition.  I was running XP Home edition instead of XP Pro because I was too lazy to format the laptop when it finally did arrive from Dell (late 2005/early 2006).  During the summer the craptop, as I so lovingly refer to it, was having major slowness issues.  I did about every virus and spyware scan on it that I could think of, and each time the scan would come back clean.  I came to the conclusion that it needed a good format to fix its issues.  I could have just as easily formatted and went to XP Pro, like I wanted to initally (but was too lazy to do), but nooooooooooooooooooooooo.  I had to be all about upgrading to the latest and greatest OS.

BTW, take the words latest and greatest with a grain of salt.  If I could describe Windows Vista in two words they would be “down” and “grade”.

Vista has a pretty facade, but that’s about it.  Its just a prettified version of Windows XP.  I really haven’t found any particularly useful features about it.  The task bars, menus, and control panels are setup differently.  Why?  I don’t know.  It takes twice as long for me to find what I’m looking for.  I looked for about 20 minutes this morning through various menus to adjust the size of my icons on the desktop.  Oh, but its not in the display menu or personalize menu as you’d think.  NO no.  You have to right click on the desktop and then View -> Classic Icons.  What.  The.  Fuck.  Seriously.  Is Microsoft trying to make me go insane?

Reading the above, you should know that I did do technical support for 4 or so years for an decent sized ISP in Pennsylvania.  I have supported the following OS’s:  Mac OS 7.5.1.-OS X, Windows 3.11 thru Windows XP.  The fancier OS’s came out after I was promoted to another department.  I am not an idiot, this OS just plain sucks bad.  If I had to pick, the worst OS we had to support was by far Windows ME (Millenium).  I’m guessing Tech Support departments all over the world have a brand new hatred for Windows Vista.

Anyway, I’ve gotten off course.  The point of this blog was that I finally reached my breaking point with the craptop this morning.  Rich and I have been throwing around the idea of getting a MacBook for me because its versatile and can run Windows and Windows applications, and can do everything this craptop can do, but looks better and isn’t a piece of crap.  I don’t really like the idea of spending 1200 dollars on a laptop though.  I’ve been having a variety of issues with the laptop before the Windows Vista fuckage even come into play.  First of all, since I’ve started using this laptop, the spacebar sticks.  I could be typing and not looking and then all of the sudden I look up at the screen and half of the line I just typedlookslikethis.  The battery life sucks.  With my old battery (the OEM battery) I got about an hour of use while unplugged.  I should have been getting like 2 or 3.  Rich bought me a new battery off of ebay that gets 5 hours of life, so I’ve been using that.  My left mouse button broke.  It is permanently depressed.  I’ve tried prying it up, but its stuck down.  Luckily it still works, but it just pisses me off that I’ve paid so much money and and am having this problem.  Also, one last thing — the hinge between my screen and keyboard needs to be tightened.  If you were to move my laptop, the screen wobbles back and forth.  I got into a chatroom with Dell Support today to see if I could get these issues resolved.  We had purchased an extended 2 year warranty on the craptop, so I didn’t think it would be an issue.  First of all, they refuse to fix the hinge, because “it can be tightened by adjusting 2 screws on the bottom”.  I still haven’t located these screws.  I guess I’ll have to take the battery out and check there.  They opened a call tag for the depressed mouse button issue.  Maybe if they give it some zoloft it will pop back up to its normal self.  I’m going to have to send the damn thing back to the Service Depot for 5-8 days to get that fixed.  Then the woman refused to have them fix the keyboard-spacebar sticking issue at the Service Depot because “it is labeled as a customer replacable part”.  Meaning, she was going to send me a keyboard and have me try to replace it.  I am sure Rich and I could have figured it out ourselves, but what the fuck am I paying for a warranty if I have to fix the damn thing myself.  Finally after about 20 minutes of going back and forth, she agreed to put an exception on my case and have them try to fix the mouse and the keyboard in one shot at the Service Depot.  It may or may not come back with the keyboard fixed.  If it doesn’t, I have to get back in touch with Dell Support to get a replacement keyboard shipped to me.

Totally horrible support = Dell

So anyway.  I’m done.  I’m fed up with these shenanigans.  I’m going to be ordering a Black Macbook in the next week.  Hopefully it will get here before I have to send this one to Dell.  Michelle w/out PC is not a good thing, kids.  Besides, I think I deserve one little splurge with my severance check.  Especially with the amount of frustration this POS causes me on a daily basis.  Once the laptop is fixed I am formatting it and selling it.

Out with the Craptop and in with the Mactop.

You’re going to need to be more specific

My daughter:  “There’s something not right with me.  There’s something not right with me.  There’s something not right with me.”  (She repeats everything about 50 times)

Me:  “Huh?  What?  What’s the matter?”

My daughter:  “There’s something not right with me.  There’s something not right with me.  There’s something not right with me.”

This goes on back and forth for like 5 minutes until I smell something eminating from her diaper STINKING up the entire living room.

Yeah, there is definately something not right about that.
