I’m taking a day off from blogging. I feel sick to my stomach, like I think the kids gave me dysentery or something. Ugh. That and my left knee is very very very very SORE. I can’t sit or bend for too long or I’m in excruciating pain. I could easily blame it on the rain, but its been hurting like this for a week now, so I doubt that’s the case. Speaking of the rain . . .
WEATHER ALERT: Flood warning for Luzerne County; Susquehanna River to crest 26.1 feet Thursday night
The National Weather Service in Binghamton, N.Y., has issued a flood warning for Luzerne County beginning Thursday morning.
Moderate flooding is expected in the lowlands of the Wyoming Valley as the river is expected to crest at 26.1 feet sometime Thursday night.
A crest at that level is 4 feet above the natural flood stage.
The river began rising early Tuesday night. At 7:16 a.m. today, the river was 8.9 feet in Wilkes-Barre, according to the Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center.
Periods of rain is in the forecast today. Mixed in with mild temperatures melting what remains of the snowpack will cause the river to significantly rise, the weather service reports.
At 27 feet, state Route 11 in West Nanticoke, Plymouth Township, and River Road in Plainsville begin to flood.
I wonder what the odds of Solomon’s Creek flooding are…. I swear those people on Barney Street can never catch a break.
