I have a bunch of pictures from old events that I’ve been finding archived in directories on our network storage.  Yeah, I know "Network Storage" sounds ridiculous.  My husband is a big computer nerd (that’s the understatement of the year).  Anyway, I’m going to be pushing them up to flickr or over to the gallery in the upcoming weeks.

Here are some old pictures of the Hurricane/Tropical Storm Agnes Flood (circa 1972): (opens in new window)

I need help labeling some of the pictures, as of right now they are all unlabeled.  My Dad’s parents took the pictures from Hanover Township/Lee Park, which I have most of the info for.  The Wilkes-Barre pictures that my Mom’s parents is what I need the most help with adding labels.  I’m not familiar with where some of the pictures were taken.  I’m looking for street names mostly.  By the way, all of these pictures were physical pictures…I had to scan each one in by hand which was a huge pain in the ass.

So for you Local Yokels, any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.  For the rest of you, enjoy the pure destructiveness of mother nature.

I’ve been on a big commercial hating spree lately because Gabby, Owen & I are stuck inside most days because of the weather.  This amounts to endless hours of watching TV and commercials.  I definately hate the Wendy’s commercial (see below), but there are a few others too.

I can’t find a video of this one on Youtube, so I have to post a link directly to the site…. click here

Its really disturbing.  "Baby Alive Wets and Wiggles" I think its called.  Basically when you open the baby’s diaper the doll has projectile "urine" (probably only water) and can shoot you square in the face from 5 feet across the room.  I mean, I have 2 kids, so I know that yes, you can get peed on changing diapers.  Owen used to be famous for that during infancy.  However, I do not need another THING in my house that pees on me.

Sorry Gabby, you are out of luck.  Santa is NOT bringing this for you for Xmas this year.

Although, since I know everyone loves a good youtube video, check out this inappropriate Super Soaker called the "Oozinator" that was for sale a few years ago.  Its pretty horrible.  Don’t marketing reps think about these cliches before releasing products/commercials to the public?  Come to think of it, Gabby & Owen love that show "Little Einsteins" on the Disney Channel, which is fine.  But one of the main features of the show is that the Little Einsteins (who are all from diverse backgrounds) ride around in a Red Rocket.  This reminds me of a South Park Episode a little bit.  If you haven’t seen it, its really bad.  (I suggest checking google, but be warned its definately NSFW) I would have thought Disney would have known about it, but apparently not.

If I hear that Wendy’s commercial: "EVERYBODY KNOWS……..IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS, DON’T EAT IT" one more time I swear that I’m going to blow up my TV.  I know its Lent.  I know you are not supposed to eat meat on Fridays.  Playing this commercial 20 times an hour is not going to make me want to buy a fish sandwich from Wendy’s anymore than I did last commercial break.

Oh, that and Gabby is starting to recite commercials word for word off of Nickelodian.

Summer, please come back!  We need to unplug and go outside.

Brown Bag Monday

By M Davies   /     Feb 26, 2008  /     Misc/Crap, NEPA, TV Rants  /     20 Comments

There is a segment on Monday mornings on WNEP called “Brown Bag Monday”.  The segment is done by Joe Snedeker the station’s morning meteorologist.  Viewers are encouraged to send in questions to Joe to be answered live on the air.  I don’t really think there are any restrictions to what can be asked, as long as its short and not obscene.  I woke up early one morning and was bored so I sent in a question to be answered:

Date:  Fri, Feb 15, 2008 at 6:46 AM

Subject:  Brown Bag Monday Question

Have you ever googled yourself?  If so, what did you think of the results that came back.

Michelle D.
Hanover Twp, PA

My question was asked live yesterday on WNEP’s Brown Bag segment.  Joe really didn’t answer it, but it still made it to air.  I didn’t even realize it was asked because I wasn’t up early yesterday.  One of my friends seen it on there and said “I only know one Michelle D from Hanover Township” and just messaged me on AIM about it.  Its pretty dumb I know, but I’m laughing about it because I didn’t think it would actually make it to the air.  If you want to view it go to and in the video section look for “Joe’s Morning Forecast – Monday” and click to view it.  Of course now that I’m blogging about this, if Joe does actually google himself he will probably find my blog in the search results.

“Googling yourself”.  It almost sounds obscene.

I just got back from dropping health assessment forms off at the doctor for Gabby and Owen for the new daycare.  Then I filled up my car with gas.  Gabby and Owen passed out hardcore from the car ride, so they are up napping now.  w00t to getting stuff done this afternoon and getting the kids to bed for a nap.  Maybe a car ride will be our post lunch thing from now on.

Oh yeah, and then there’s this…

I had a doctors appointment at 1:30 yesterday afternoon and I had to take both Gabby and Owen (Read:  DISASTER).  They were bad the entire time pretty much and I wanted to kill them by the time we left the parking lot, but anyway….

I then headed over to see Gretchen and drop off some baby stuff that I thought she might be able to use.  I ran in for 5 minutes and got my crock pot back, from her DECEMBER party.  I’m lazy, what can I say.  Then it was off to Gerrity’s in Nanticoke to get my prescription filled (Amoxicillian).  On the way back from Luzerne, Gabby happened to catch my eye doing something in the back seat.  She was pulling on the door handle.  The next thing I know, the Jeep is yelling at me that a door is open.  She managed to open the car door while the car was MOVING.  I had to pull over in Redner’s parking lot and engage the Child Protect locks on both doors in the back seat.  My jeep is stupid, because even though the doors lock after you start going over 5mph, if you try to open the door, it will unlock itself so you can get out.  This is no different in the back seat apparently, which I did not know.  I mean usually you’d think that you’d need to UNLOCK the door THEN open it.  That is not the case.  If you pull on the handle, it unlocks the door.  Convenient?  Yes.  Safe?  No.

I didn’t think I’d have to use the Child Protect locks until Gabby and Owen were at least 5.  I thought wrong.  *Sigh*  Just when you think you have this safety proofing thing figured out, they figure out a way to outsmart you.

Thank god we got to Gerrity’s in one piece and I got my prescription using the Drive-thru window.  Gabby and Owen were both out cold by the time we arrived home and they slept from 3pm-6pm.  Yay.  Score one for Mommy.

Today…my new washer and dryer arrives anywhere from 12-4pm.  I also have to meet with a daycare in Dallas that has openings for Gabby and Owen.  Here’s hoping it all goes well.
