Product Review: The I-River

I have owned an iPod for several years now…..since the summer of 2003 (note:  I'm not sure what generation iPod mine is) and I am in love with it.  I used to burn oodles and oodles of mixed cds with stuff I'd like off of the radio, but the iPod saved me from doing all of that work only to have the cd scratched up or lost.  Anyway, with my other vehicle (the bug) I used to run my iPod through the tape deck using one of those fake cassette tape type dealio's.  It worked pretty well, and since I had 2 AC outlets in the front, I could hook the iPod to the AC to have it charge.  When I moved over to the Jeep, I couldn't run the same setup because I only have one AC outlet and a CD player.  Obviously the fake cassette tape setup wasn't going to work.  For Mother's Day Gabby (Rich) bought me an FM transmitter for my iPod…..its called the I-River, here's a pic of it:

You hook it up to your AC outlet (where your cigarrette lighter goes) and connect the other end to your iPod's earphone jack, set the Iriver to your station of choice (for me its 90.3) and tune your car's radio to that channel and away you go!  In the short time I have been using this, I have experienced no interferance of any kind.  It works as good as if it was hardwired to my car's audio.  Although, the Iriver website says it is retail 69.99, Rich may have gotten it more cheaply locally.  My only complaint with this, is that my jeep does not have a second AC outlet like my bug did.  I can't charge it while I am playing it.  That is the only drawback.  I will have to think of some kind of creative solution to get around that…… Here's the website, if you want to check it out.  I highly recommend it
